BCF is a church where...

Every Christian is actively involved in Christ’s mission

We see a church that openly welcomes outsiders and does everything to win both young and old for Christ. All members participate in some way in the church’s evangelism in the village, so there is a wide variety of ways in which the gospel is presented. We see regular outreach not only in Brixworth, but also in five of the surrounding villages, as a result of which people regularly come to faith, with 12 new Christians every year.

We see a church that is actively involved in the community, engaging in ministry to the village that demonstrates the love and compassion of Jesus in practical ways, reinforcing the spoken message of God’s salvation to the world. Members actively look for ways in which they may serve and bring God’s blessing to the community.

We see a church with a heart for the world, which has established meaningful links with churches in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Its aim is to send out new full-time workers into world mission every five years, with short term teams going out on an annual basis to encourage other Christians, learn about the worldwide church and envision those who stay behind to pray. We see a church where prayer for mission and evangelism is the backbone of its life.

Stacey does not come from Brixworth (she originally comes from Lancashire and trained at Aberystwyth University), but we have "adopted" her as one of ours and committed ourselves to support her and work with her in her ministry in France.

We have been to visit her on several occasions while she was training in Orléans and living in Paris, and hope to do so once more when she settles in Tours in 2010. These visits are quite easy for us as France is close and the Channel Tunnel makes the sea 'crossing' fairly straightforward, but of course their value lies in us being able to see her work close up, as well as express our support for her in a practical way.

Stacey's passion is for evangelistic work and one-to-one discipleship - her enthusiasm for these is infectious! And she will need that enthusiasm, as France is one of the tougher mission fields in the world. France is a secular country with a strong mistrust of "clericalism" (church interference in society) and a sharp separation of religion and state, but also has a Catholic history and at the same time has one of the largest Muslim populations in Europe. Evangelicals, meanwhile, make up a tiny minority of the population with less that 1% (which is less than some of the major cults). This means that church planting is painfully slow and relatively unfruitful - new fellowships can sometimes take years to be established - and the work itself can be frustrating. Patience, perseverance and faith are needed!

But this is not to say that nothing happens! Stacey will be part of a team that has already planted a new church in the north of Tours and which is looking to plant another elsewhere in the city, so we excited to pray with her about new possibilities. Elsewhere in France, new churches are being planted at a rate of about 1 every 9 days (source: France Mission), so things may have a long way to go, but they are definitely starting to move! My artwork is based on the Holy Bible. My intention is to produce cartoons relating to every book of the Bible. In fact I’d like to produce a cartoon for every chapter…I recognize that this is a mammoth task! There are 66 books in the Bible, totaling 1188 chapters!

Some Bible books have many chapters & so will take longer to finish than others. For example Genesis has 50 chapters, whilst Ruth has only 4. Some books of the bible will lend themselves more readily to cartoon illustration than others. The gospels, since they are essentially narrative (story-like) in nature, are easier to illustrate than some poetry books, or books of law, for instance. However, I’ll try to be fair & illustrate all of the 66 books of the Holy Bible.

I have decided to concentrate on the most well known Bible stories first of all, creating a series of cartoons that tell each story. I am alternating between an Old & New Testament book, thereby gradually building up cartoons relating to both Testaments.

I hope that my viewers can occasionally see humour in my cartoons – that is one of their intentions, though my primary concern is to produce cartoon illustrations that are accurate to the content of the chapter & Bible book in question.

Educated at Nene College (now University of Northampton) I gained a Bachelor of Science Combined Studies Degree, majoring in Earth Science.

After several years spent as a penniless pursuer of personal pleasure, I returned to Nene College & achieved success in an Art Foundation Course. Since then I have been employed as a Graphic Designer.

In 2007 I left the security of employment & struck out on my own, as a full-time artist, cartoonist, designer & seeker of truth!

I am very happily married & live in the Midlands of Great Britain.

Interests

Apart from the obvious interest in art, I have a wide scope of other interests, including running, walking, reading (Christian, sci-fi, fantasy & science), cinema, TV & Film & home computing. I like a wide range of film genres, including adventure, comedy, sci-fi, period drama, etc. I don’t like horror movies.

I have retained a strong interest in Earth Science & the sciences in general. In fact I am interested in artistic pursuits & scientific, technical ones as well.

I attend Brixworth Christian Fellowship church, which is situated in Brixworth, Northamptonshire, UK. We are affiliated to the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC.) I enjoy an ever-developing personal relationship with Jesus the Christ… something which is readily available to each & every one of us.

The Messengers

The Messengers is a UK registered charity set up in 1995 to support persecuted Christians in the access restricted nations of SE Asia. It’s primary area of concern is helping the minority or tribal peoples in SE Asia to know of Christ’s love and to support those who have come to faith who are experiencing spiritual and physical difficulties.

Together with other partner ministries we are currently working in China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Northern Thailand, Burma (Myanmar), Bangladesh, NE India, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The support given includes the provision of Scriptures and other written materials in their own languages, leadership training, schools and orphanages, livelihood projects that help to feed the families of persecuted Christians and specific aid for the families of those who have loved ones in prison because of their love of Jesus.
